Over the past year or so, I have translated two types of stories:
1. Short stories by fantastic Sri Lankan Tamil writers into English, and
2. Short stories from other languages into Tamil.

I will summarize category #1 here and category #2 in the next post.

I have posted most translations in the first category here. Some of them were published in Jaffna Monitor.

I have finished three complete collections:
1. Akka (அக்கா, 1964) by the doyen of Sri Lankan Tamil literature, Mr. A. Muttulingam
2. Lines and forms (கோடுகளும் கோலங்களும், 1976) by Kuppilan Ai. Shanmugan, a winner of the Sri Lankan Sahitya Academy Award.
3. Black Cuckoo, a collection of stories (which were not published previously as a collection in Tamil) by Shobha Sakthi, perhaps the most acclaimed Sri Lankan Tamil writer from the generation that followed Muttulingam and Shanmugan. He is a former Tamil militant. In addition to writing, he is also renowned as an actor and scriptwriter, most notably for the movie Dheepan (in which he also played the leading role), which won the Palme d’Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

All three collections are available here. If you read any of them, I would love to know your feedback.

I have asked around to see if there is any publisher who would be interested in publishing these collections, but so far without luck. But since I do this work as a hobby, I haven’t had the bandwidth to go all out to find a publisher.

I have also translated a handful stories from other authors: SLM Hanifa, A. Jesurasa, and M. S. Kanakaratnam.
