My translation of the short story சுவர் முகம் by Shobasakthi has been published in the Winter/Spring 2026 issue of Lunch Ticket, the literary magazine by Antioch University’s MFA program. சுவர் முகம் was originally published in the Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan (July 2025).

Lunch Ticket also chose this translated story as a finalist for their Gabo Prize for Literature in Translation & Multilingual Texts and nominated it for the Pushcart Prize!

Shobasakthi is the foremost Sri Lankan Tamil writer of my generation, In addition to being a playwright and an actor whose movie Dheepan won Palme d’Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival!

English translations of his work have been published previously in India. This is the first time a translation of a short story is appearing in a western literary magazine!
